Our mission is to improve the overall student housing experience by making shared living more comfortable, personal and stress-free. We believe this matters because your living situation plays a big role in your university life, and everyone deserves to feel at home.
Being an international student made me realise just how important good student housing experience is. I’ve seen way too many friends suffer from poor living arrangements, affecting their finances or even mental health. MatchAMate was built with the premise to address these issues, particularly with helping people find ideal roommates.
The Australian Center for the Moving Image is Australia's national museum of screen culture. ACMI celebrates film, television, videogames, and digital art through interactive exhibitions and screenings. The museum features a permanent exhibition, The Story of the Moving Image, and offers a unique experience with its Australian Mediatheque. ACMI is a premier cultural destination in Melbourne, accessible to all with free entry to its main exhibitions.
Seeing both the struggles of friends with incompatible roommates and the strong relationships that can grow from shared housing, I feel everyone deserves to have the latter. As someone who deeply values connection, I want to help foster these safe and comfortable environments.
During my exchange semester abroad, I had the personal experience of living with a stranger as my roommate. While I got lucky and had a great experience, many of my friends struggled with their housing assignments and I saw first-hand how much of an impact that had on their university experience. This inspired me to join the MatchAMate team, where I’m excited to help create a platform that makes finding the right match easier and improve student lifestyles.
When I moved from Perth to Melbourne for university, I quickly learned how challenging it can be to find compatible housemates. In my first semester, I lived with four different people with very different lifestyles, which made settling in harder than it needed to be. I believe MatchaMate can improve this experience by connecting students based on compatibility, making the transition smoother and more enjoyable. Having been through the trial-and-error process myself, I’m eager to help create better living matches for other students.
